In loving memory of Daniel Paul Buchanan, who departed this life on July 13, 2002.
"So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee."--William Shakespeare
These poems may be read individually, but they function best when read as a whole. They were composed over two months in 2004, except for the first two, which were composed in 2001, and which, thank God, I was able to show to my beloved before the shadow of his death had fallen upon us. While they may seem out of place when compared to the rest of the poems, I decided to include them as they provide the background to what comes after. For greater ease of reading on the internet, I have divided the sequence into four separate sections. They are about love, loss and hope. I leave them as a monument to love and to the unsearchable depths of the human heart.
